HIGHLAND PARK HISTORY
Highland Family Eye Care is in the heart of the Highland Park neighborhood. Across the street is the historic Highland movie theater, which first opened its doors in 1939, the same year the visionary cinematic masterpieces "Gone With the Wind" and "The Wizard of Oz." Highland Park is also home to the Ford Motor Company's Twin Cities Assembly plant as well as Punch Pizza and Dr. Snyder and his family.

Who is Dr. Brian J. Snyder
Brian Snyder was born in a sod hut on the outskirts of the prairie frontier. Well not actually. He was born in a hospital in Des Moines, IA, the third of four boys. After surviving childhood he left one big city for another, Chicago. Brian completed an undergraduate degree in history at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. It was on the windy shores of Lake Michigan that he met a nice St. Paul girl named Molly who convinced him to marry her (or maybe it was the other way around) and she also first brought up the idea of becoming an optometrist. Both decisions have paid great dividends.
After graduating with honors from the Illinois College of Optometry, Dr. Snyder was selected to complete a year long post-graduate training program in the Twin Cities. He was happy to be working with some of the best ophthalmic surgeons in the Twin Cities and Molly was happy to be back in St. Paul.
Some of Dr. Snyder's other accompishments include earning fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry, being among the first in the nation to be recognized as a Diplomate by the American Board of Optometry, and of course, father, cub scout leader and chauffeur to his three sons (queue theme music).
When weekends and holidays allow, the Snyder family likes to spend time on Minnesota's north shore (somewhere between Tofte and Lutsen) throwing rocks in the lake, hiking and riding the alpine slide.
Tammy Anderson - Frame Maven
Ms. Tammy Anderson joined Highland Family Eye Care in the Fall of 2010. Tammy went to school at the University of Wisconsin in Stout, hoping to major in dairy management but settling instead for retail management once she found high heels were not practical for walking around in cow pastures. And are we ever glad she made the switch, the cows' loss has been our gain.
Prior to coming to Highland Family Eye Care, Tammy spent a number of years working at a large optical retailer whose name will not be mentioned here. Needless to say, she is enjoying the change of pace and ability to help Dr. Snyder deliver the best in optical products and patient care to the community. In what little free time she is permitted, Tammy likes to shop and exercise and is constantly looking for new ways to combine the two.
Abby Purzitza - Optical Dynamo
Abby had the good (mis?) fortune of marrying into an optical family. It was probably only a matter of time before she found herself bending frames and poking eyes with the best of them. We are proud to welcome Abby to Highland Family Eye Care where she is excited to help provide the exceptional service you have come to expect. When her and her husband aren't spending their free time discussing eye glasses, they like to ride motorcycles (with protective eye wear, of course).
